Cloud Engineer
Salary: £65,100 per annum
Join the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Technology team as a Cloud Engineer at Pharmaceutical Press, where you'll play a vital role in developing and maintaining our publishing software, systems, and customer-facing digital products. As part of our purpose-driven team, you'll be surrounded by individuals who share a passion for innovation and embrace Agile principles. As a Cloud Engineer, you'll design and maintain cloud-based infrastructures and applications, applying high-quality development practices and collaborating with various teams. Additionally, you'll assist in managing data protection systems and contribute to problem-solving and process improvements.
Requirements:
- In-depth expertise of AWS (EC2, RDS, IAM, Cognito, DynamoDB, lambdas, networking, API gateways, CloudFront etc.).
- Experience in working in agile environments, working closely with Software Developers and other stakeholders with an emphasis on building customer- focused solutions in an iterative and incremental way.
- Experience in working with GitHub repositories, including working with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions.
- Knowledge of DevOps values, such as automation, sharing, culture, and measurement.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices such as CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, logging and monitoring, communication and collaboration.
- Knowledge of a number of technologies, such as Puppet, Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, Elasticsearch, Service Catalog, Docker, Linux.
- Knowledge of using logging and monitoring tools for cloud-based applications (including AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray).
- Knowledge of scaling cloud-based applications.
- Experience with working with Identity and Access Management solutions in AWS.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work, and work to deadlines.
- Ability to provide clear explanations and instructions orally and in writing.
- Experience in the use of content management systems, and in web delivery of structured content would be an advantage.
- Best security practices, high quality standards and attention to detail.
- Experience with Python, JavaScript and TypeScript.
How we are currently working
RPS supports and works in a hybrid way, which means you will be able to work from home, however, there will be an expectation for collaborative face-to-face working – on average and typically this may be something between 4-8 working days per month at our London Office. However, this may be more depending on the team or business need.
