Clinical Writers at RPS

Clinical Writers at Pharmaceutical Press are pharmacists from varied backgrounds including community and hospital practice, but we all share a passion for providing high quality medicines information to support the safe and effective use of medicines globally.
Our writers in the Editorial team bring clinical experience and expertise to publications including the British National Formulary, Martindale: the Complete Drug Reference, and Stockley’s Drug Interactions. We also work with external experts on specialist publications such as the Palliative Care Formulary.
Our role is key to the creation of essential content for the various Pharmaceutical Press products to maintain their positions as authoritative and definitive sources of information about drugs and medicines.
The job includes literature searching and critical appraisal, selecting relevant information, and organising and writing or checking content. Our writers need to be able to work accurately to understand and present complex information clearly and concisely. We are diligent, with an eye for detail to ensure accuracy and safety in all our publications.
We are enthusiastic and self-motivated, but also work together successfully as a collaborative team.

The RPS is a friendly, encouraging workplace, and provides ample opportunities for professional development. I would highly encourage anyone looking to use their pharmacy knowledge and skills in a non-clinical environment to apply.

I joined the RPS after several years working in hospital pharmacy. I use my clinical knowledge every day and collaborate with the team on exciting developments for our products. The change of role has been hugely enjoyable, and I feel trusted and valued in the organisation.

The RPS has supported me to continue working as a pharmacist at my NHS Trust for 2 days a week, alongside my role as a clinical writer for the remaining 3 days. I find this combination keeps my clinical skills sharp, while working as a writer has improved my critical appraisal skills which in turn complements my clinical work.

RPS provides great opportunities for pharmacists, who are willing to apply their skills and knowledge for the creation of publications, used widely in the healthcare industry. Not very often do you come across an organisation that truly allows you to grow and excel in your career, that too in a positive and friendly environment.
