Director of Pharmacy
Salary: c.£115,000

With our transition to the Royal College of Pharmacy drawing nearer we are looking to appoint a Director of Pharmacy to provide leadership and delivery of functions critical for advancing the profession and delivering on our commitment to patient safety. This is an exciting opportunity to join the new Executive team and help shape the organisation and ensure its charitable purpose is achieved.
The Director of Pharmacy will lead the design, development and implementation of a roadmap of activities across advocacy, science & research, standards and guidance, that will align with our organisational goals and objectives.
About the role:
- To provide director level leadership and accountability for the following activity: patient safety, policy development and influence, professional thought leadership and public affairs
- Working through the Chief Scientist, lead the advancement of the RPS Science & Research functions in order to raise the profile of Pharmaceutical Science both internally and externally, to members, key stakeholders and members of the public.
- Provides coordinated support for GB wide policy, working closely with and supporting the three national teams and Boards for England, Scotland and Wales, and contributing to a comprehensive library of accurate and timely policy documents and position statements and delivering the RPS endorsement service.
- Represents the college externally, acting as an ambassador and champion for the profession.
- Accountable for ensuring a coordinated organisation wide process of responding to external consultations, supporting the leadership role of the organisation through working with experts and partnership specialist groups.
Person Specification:
- A pharmacy degree and substantial post qualification experience at a senior level with broad experience of, or knowledge of, more than one sector in pharmacy
- Applicants must be a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and Registered with GPhC or PSNI.
- An understanding of the pharmacy landscape in England, Scotland & Wales and an appreciation of national plans and policies of the NHS relating to or affecting pharmacy and medicines.
- A robust understanding of the roles and work of the key stakeholders in pharmacy, preferably with effective relationships in place.

How we are currently working:
RPS supports and works in a hybrid way, which means you will be able to work from home; however, there will be an expectation for collaborative face- to-face working – on average and typically this may be something between 4–8 working days per month at our London Office.
