Role: Science and Research Committee Member
Location: Annual face-to-face meeting in London, with additional meetings conducted virtually
Duration: Initial Term of three years
The Science and Research Committee (SRC) is a key expert advisory committee of the RPS. As the RPS evolves into the Royal College of Pharmacy, the SRC plays a central role in strengthening the organisation’s scientific authority, research leadership and evidence base.
Main Accountabilities:
Advise the RPS Assembly on matters relating to pharmaceutical science and research in pharmacy.
Support the development and delivery of the RPS Science and Research strategy, enhancing the Society’s reputation and authority as it transitions to a Royal College.
Review reports from the relevant forums and groups and comment and feedback on performance and improvement.
Provide expert input into the development of professional standards, guidance, policy positions and responses to consultations.
Lead or contribute to thought leadership outputs, including reports, position statements and evidence summaries, to inform the profession and RPS governance bodies.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Recognised national and, ideally, international as having expertise in pharmaceutical science or pharmacy-related research with evidence of impact on practice, policy, education or innovation (nominees should be at the forefront of practice).
Experienced across one or more sectors, at a senior level, including academia, industry, healthcare, the voluntary sector or public bodies.
Committed to inclusive leadership, collaboration and professional integrity.
Have broad discipline expertise (broad knowledge and expertise in a relevant specialty research area and/or multidisciplinary experience in two or more discipline areas is desirable – specialists and generalists).
Membership of the RPS is required for the duration of the appointment (or willingness to become a member where eligible).
